(Dallas, TX) Commercial Fleet Financing, Inc., an industry leader in new and used equipment financing, has announced WorkHound as the winner of the first-ever Truck Tank contest at GATS 2015.

Truck Tank, a “Shark Tank” style investor panel and pitch contest specific to the transportation industry, was held live at GATS 2015 on August 28. Ten finalists pitched their ideas to the Truck Tank judges, RJ Grimshaw, CEO of Unifi Equipment Finance, Bethany Williams, writer, speaker, and small business advisor, Matt Manero, founder and CEO of Commercial Fleet Financing, Inc., and Don Daseke, chairman, president and CEO of Daseke, Inc.

The WorkHound app was developed by Max Farrell and Andrew Kirpalani out of Des Moines Iowa. The app is a driver retention tool that allows drivers to share valuable feedback about their company and experiences on the road. The app aggregates  data that the trucking companies can use to improve relationships with their drivers and increase driver retention.

“The trucking industry has an annual turnover rate of 97 percent, and a big reason for that is a disconnect between the drivers and the companies,” Farrell said. “Our app allows drivers to share their feedback, both positive and negative, anonymously, and in turn the companies can use the data the app provides to find out what they can do to better the relationships with the drivers to lower the turnover rate.”

The app costs only $19 per driver per month, which Farrell says will be offset retaining drivers and reducing money spent on hiring and training new drivers.

“We talked to more than 100 fleets about the cost of recruiting a new driver, and they all answered somewhere between $5,000 and $8,000. “If you can retain drivers with the help of our app, you’re saving a lot of money.” Max Farrell, Co-Founder and CEO of WorkHound
