How Delta is Adapting Amid Coronavirus Downturn – MTIM EP 34

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Here’s what I mean.

Welcome to Monday Transportation in Minutes. We all know what’s going on with the coronavirus and how devastating it is for some of us. We also know how truckers are doing their part to save the American economy right now and we all appreciate what you guys are doing, but for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

When there’s a buy, there’s also a sell, and what we’re starting to see is ingenuity kick back in and creativity.

In other words, when there is something that happens, something happens on the other side.

When there’s a buy, there’s also a sell, and what we’re starting to see is ingenuity kick back in and creativity.

Let me give you a specific example. Delta Airlines can’t sell passenger seats anymore, nobody wants to travel. People are terrified of travel. The airlines are getting crushed when it comes to selling seats so you know what Delta did recently? I think they did it with 14 planes and they said they could double it or triple it if they need to because they’re literally shuttering and parking these planes.

Remember and ask yourself this question through this tough time, what is on the other side of the bad news?

They’re tearing the seats out and they’re making room for pallets so that they can now fly freight, which is at almost all time highs around the country and make money, not hauling people, but actually hauling the freight that American needs. Unbelievable turn of events. Add to it that fuel prices are down almost 60% for jet fuel just in the last three weeks and it makes flying freight profitable for the airlines, and Delta figured that out.

Remember and ask yourself this question through this tough time, what is on the other side of the bad news?

That’s the challenge today on Monday Transportation in Minutes, to understand that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

What is the good news that’s happening because of the bad news and how can you capitalize and hopefully profit and, yes, in all truth maybe even just survive because of it. That’s the challenge today on Monday Transportation in Minutes, to understand that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

For everything that’s bad, there’s something on the other side that’s good.

Drive safe, be safe, and we’ll see you down the road.
